Hey guys do you want to hear about how a creepy jackass from New York decided that I was his best friend and must be followed to the ends of the Internet?

It all started about one year ago on my FurAffinity Gallery. And Before you go EEW FURRIES I just made 200bux doing little icons and quick art so you can stuff that in your butt and smoke it.

Anyway.

About I year ago I met this little number.

Atma505 If you click that link you might notice that he is BANNED. As of this writing this is not a permaban unfortunately.

Atma commented on my art regularly, and generally wasn't that annoying in the long long ago. I let him do his thing, I did mine, whatever. Eventually I gave him my AIM when he asked for it, because what was the harm?

Oh how wrong I was. This was my first mistake.

Things were okay at first. He didn't really bother me that much. Sometimes I would get an IM from him and that was fine. It wasn't very frequent and it was usually about video games. In most instances he would log off almost immediately so I didn't really consider it.

Fast forward a few months later when Fiz blocks him from her page. And I quote:

Atma: fiz blocked me because i asked her why all of her favorites are of herself, lol

Think of that what you will. I personally think that a gallery owner can do whatever they want with their favorites.

Anyway, this begins a long, obsessive, and failing journey to get Fiz to unban him. Read more about that particular drama here: Dramachan, warning NSFW ads

After that he came to me constantly about it, and generally complained about how shitty he felt. It was more about how he didn't seem to have a life outside of his computer, than the Fiz banning thing. I suppose I felt sympathy because during that period of my life I was recovering from a terrible relationship, and my own struggle with mental illness.

So, and I would come to regret this, I tried to make him feel better by relating my own story, and how after being admitted to a hospital I dragged myself out from rock bottom, got a job, and eventually went back to school. I was probably being too open, but I feel a sympathy for people who are also struggling with mental illness. Naturally, this would be used against me later.

Somehow relating this story elevated me to BEST FRIEND EVER STATUS. This was bad. His behavior eventually got him banned from both Sonderjen's and Technicolor Pie's page respectively.

Assuming that I must've been friends with everyone who commented on my page ever, he begun asking me in notes for people to unblock him. Here is one such note: COULD YOU TELL TECHNICOLOR PIE TO UNBLOCK ME

Naturally I stayed as neutral as possible. Here is my response: LOL NO THANKS

This became more and more frequent until he got angry at me for not getting in the middle of his drama. Unfortunately I forgot to log the following conversation, but I'll paraphrase what got him banned from AIM the first time.

PARAPHRASED ACCOUNT

Atma: Why didn't you defend me when sonderjen made fun of me on his page?
AssButt: Because it was removed before I saw it, and even then I don't want to get involved in your battles I keep telling you this.
Atma: But you are my friend why don't you stick up for me.
AssButt: I am your INTERNET friend and I have more important things to do, like working on this robot arm rig for school.
Atma: FUCK YOU! THAT STUPID RIG IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ME (lol yeah)

And then he blocked me.

I promptly returned this gesture in kind and moved on with my life and my homework. Whateverrr.

A week later he starts creating alts. I block one and he makes another one. FINE ATMA WHAT YOU WANT.

Here is another PARAPHRASED ACCOUNT because I don't have the log for this, I was at school.

Atma: Why you block me D:
AssButt: I keep telling you that I don't want to get involved, you don't consider my feelings on the issue. It's rude and I don't like it.
Atma: BUT YOU DON'T CONSIDER MYYYYYYYY FEELINGS.
AssButt: Look I'll give you another chance as long as you lay off this Sonderjen/Technicolor Pie drama.
Atma: Fine.
AssButt: You have to understand that I'm in school now and I really don't want to get into any drama if I don't have to. (Well look what happened there)
Atma: BUT WHO WILL BE THERE FOR ME. IF YOU BLOCK ME AGAIN I MIGHT HURT MYSELF.
AssButt: If you feel like you might hurt yourself then you need to call a hotline or get off the Internet.

And so on.

Basically, if I didn't bend into his little game he would threaten to hurt himself. That and the story I told before meant that we were super best friends forever. GREAT. I didn't really want to talk to him, but I didn't want to deal with his millions of alt accounts either. I unbanned him from my AIM and from FA, grudgingly.

-TWO DAYS LATER-

Atma: I am fucking sick of walking on pins and needles with you o_x; (I hadn't spoken with him at all in the two days he had been unbanned)
Atma: FINE, BLOCK ME

Wish granted you dumbass.

Fortunately for me, and not so much for Atma, my status on FA skyrocketed after I went on a magical adventure to a furry-con. Suddenly EVERYONE knew me. I had pageviews and +watches coming out all over the place. People were linking me in all sorts of journals! I mention this not to boost my own ego (although I certainly enjoyed the attention) but because attention seems to set Atma off. He hates seeing people who've blocked him get attention, because they are harder to avoid when their icons are all over the place. A constant reminder that he is blocked.

So he promptly IM'd EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO WENT WITH ME TO THAT CON.

What the hell. That is dedication. Most were irritated, others amused. I got notes asking me "WHAT THE HELL ASSBUTT, YOU GAVE ME THE ATMA". So although he was now permanently blocked by me on AIM, he would use my friends to try and get at me almost daily. Unfortunately for Atma, he didn't realize that most of my friends are kinda assholes, and would use his obsession to screw with him to produce hilarious results.

Sadly, FurAffinity is a really poorly designed site. Just because you block someone, doesn't mean they can't watch you. And -watch and +watch he did.

It used to be that when someone unwatches you, you get a little notice saying "You have been removed by the user" That's pretty irritating on it's own, but you can also spam this button, filling up a persons inbox with dozens, even hundreds (PRAWST tested this) of little notices. It got so bad that I got at least a few notices from Atma a day. I know it was Atma, because sometimes he wasn't careful and watched me at the end of his spree: OH HEY WATCHING YOU AGAIN

Irritated that he'd been abusing my inbox as some sort of lame retaliation I naturally complained. In fact, everyone who blocked him got the same treatment. Fiz made some clever commentary for the event

Thankfully, and probably largely due to Atma, the unwatch notice feature has been removed.

Having grown sick of Atmas antics I took a step that most hadn't considered. I took screenshots of my inbox whenever he spammed it, then took a screenshot of my watch list. Whenever he watched me again, he would move to the top of my recently watched list, proving that he was screwing with my inbox, and it wasn't just anyone doing it.

Atma was warned, but to my dismay he was not banned from FA.

The obsession continued, and the more he bothered people about me, the more he was blocked from chat accounts and banned from commenting on individual FA galleries. His reputation as a stalker had solidified. Suddenly very few people wanted anything to do with him, and of course I was at fault. It wasn't his obsessive pestering, threats of self harm, or inbox spamming that did him in. It was MY fault.

What got his page shut down, at least -temporarily- on FA?

Part of the journal is blocked to protect me, since it contains personal information. Stuff much more personal and hurtful than what I ever told anyone about Atma. There is a big difference between "This jackass is actively spamming my inbox" than "Hey let's post about someones traumatizing and deeply personal experience for all the internet to look at!"

Not only does he do this, but he has the gall to say OH THIS WILL BRING US TOGETHER.

No it won't you dumb sack of shit. Not only did it not bring us together, it makes me see you for the manipulative bastard you really are. Attempting to blackmail me with something I told you to make you feel better. That's pretty low.

Thankfully, some friends reported the journal almost immediately. Very few saw it uncensored, which I am thankful for.

Atma is a stalker, plain and simple. He uses people to get attention, and when he doesn't get what he wants he turns on them immediately. He would go to my friends, then complain to me about them the moment he thought he earned their trust. He uses personal information to get at people, and when nothing else will work he will threaten to hurt himself or even threaten to commit suicide to get sympathy.

Clearly there is something wrong with him, but that does not excuse his behavior. He needs a therapist, not the Internet.
